Born in Manchester August 23, 1918 she was the daughter of Richard and Mary (Gorman) Murphy. She was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. Helen was in the first graduating class of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and graduated from St. Joseph High School for Girls, class of 1936.
She worked as telephone operator for New England Telephone Co. and was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Cathedral and most recently of St. Pius X Parish.
Helen enjoyed her home and working outside in her yard on Lowell St. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was the center of her life.
She was married 45 years to the love of her life, Edwin, who passed away 26 years ago.
Family members include her daughters, Mary Duval and her husband Richard, Barbara Gaudreault and her husband Armand, and son John Mullen and his wife Fudgie, all of Manchester; six grandchildren, Christine Hodge, Gregory Duval, Matthew Duval, Kimberly Burleigh, Brian Collins and Kelly Chaposky; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her eight brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Rd., Manchester. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester was in charge of arrangements.
