Helene J. (Poisson) Longchamps, 97, formerly of Manchester, died August 16, 2022 at The Arbors of Bedford after a period of declining health.
She was born in Manchester on December 7, 1924 to Wilfrid and Alma (Houle) Poisson. She graduated from Ste. Marie High School and lived in Manchester for most of her life.
Helene worked as a hairdresser for nearly 70 years at Houle’s Beauty Shop in Manchester. She was a longtime communicant of St. Jean the Baptist Church/Parish of the Transfiguration. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, sewing, knitting and especially yard work.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Maurice M. Longchamps, Sr. in 1996; a granddaughter, Jennifer Marshall and eight siblings.
The family includes two children, Jeanne Bourque of Manchester and Maurice M. Longchamps, Jr. and his significant other, Janet Greenly of Allenstown; three grandchildren, Daniel Bourque and his wife, Lisa, David Bourque and his wife, Jennifer and Lisa Longchamps; five great grandchildren, Katelyn, Joshua, Josephine, Collin and Brayden; and many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Tuesday (8/23) from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (8/24) at 10 a.m. at Parish of the Transfiguration, 305 Kelley St., Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
