Henry A. Lamarche

Henry "Hank" A. LaMarche, 85, of Manchester, NH died December 18, 2006 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a short illness

He was born on July 28, 1921 in Manchester, the son of William and Claudia (Zoe) LaMarche. He was a lifelong resident of the city.

He retired from Lockheed Sanders after 19 years of service. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force 53rd Troop Carrier Wing. He was assigned to serve in the United States, but volunteered to serve in Europe where his three brothers were stationed. He participated in D-Day, as well as battles over Holland, Bastagone and Germany. Among his missions was supplying General Patton. He was awarded the Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the E.T.O. Medal with three stars, the Victory Medal and American Campaign Medal. He was a life member of American Legion Jutras Post and the V.F.W. post #8214, the V.F.W. Children Home, the American Canadian Association and AARP. He served as a chaplain and service officer for American Legion Post 79 and was a member of the color guard.

He was a loving and giving father and grandfather who was an expert handyman. Never sitting still, he was an avid follower of current events and sports. He always had a smile and a conversation for anyone that he met. He loved his country, cooking, animals, and especially his cats. He had a big heart, sense of humor and a passion for his family. He will be greatly missed.

He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years Helen (Przybyla) LaMarche on May 18, 2006.

Members of his family include two daughters, Claudia Danielson of Litchfield NH and Cindy LaMarche of Manchester; three grandsons, Donald Danielson of Burbank, CA, Bradford Danielson of Boston, MA, and David Danielson Jr. of Goffstown, NH; one granddaughter, Lisa Lempke and her husband Rick of Derry, NH; one great-grandson, Elliott Lempke of Derry, NH; one sister, Theresa Demers of Manchester; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, William LaMarche Jr., George LaMarche, Leandre LaMarche, Albert LaMarche, Alfred LaMarche and Maurice LaMarche and Robert LaMarche and two sisters, Anna Puglisi and Rita LaMarche.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm St., Manchester, on Thursday December 21, 2006. Burial with military honors followed in St. Augustin Cemetery.
