Henry T. Pratte, 88, of Manchester, died April 28, 2017 at his home after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester on May 31, 1928 to Aime and Aldora (Proulx) Pratte. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Henry was a barber who owned and operated Pratte Hair Styling in Manchester for many years. He was also a jazz musician and performed in bands during his earlier years.
He was born and raised on the West Side, and held a strong sense of pride in his French-Canadian heritage. In addition to playing music, he was skilled in visual art, an interest he passed down to his children. He had an unusual sense of humor, and always found ways to retain a positive outlook on life.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia C. (Tobey) Pratte in 1995.
The family includes three children, Martin J. Pratte and his wife, Lisa, of Goffstown, Deborah Pratte-Croteau and her husband, Dennis, of Bedford and Morgan M. Pratte of Medford, MA; three grandchildren, Matthew A. Croteau, Owen J. Pratte and Joseph C. Pratte; a great granddaughter, Amelia Pratte; two sisters, Claire Belanger of Ludlow, MA and Beatrice Yergeau of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank caregivers, Jeannine and Marc Gendron as well as the staff of VNA Hospice for the loving and dedicated care they provided to Henry.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
