Henry Raphael Mallek

October 24, 1919 — March 7, 2017

Henry Raphael Mallek died March 7, 2017, in Bedford NH after a brief illness at the age of 97. He was born October 24, 1919, to Stanley and Josephine (Stawarz) Mallek in Manchester NH.

As a self-made man, he had a long and successful life. He graduated from Manchester Central High School. During World War II, he worked at Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut in support of the war effort. After the war, he moved his family to Franklin NH where he worked in various managerial capacities at a number of the mills in the Franklin-Laconia area. He and his family moved to Hooksett after he became general manager and, later, president of Keller Products where he worked as a consultant after his retirement.

He was a wonderful conversationalist, loved to play golf, especially as a long standing member of Derryfield Country Club, and listen to classical music, in particular opera. As a young man, he was a member of a number of choirs in Manchester. Even later in life, he was known for his love of singing, often closing phone conversations with his daughter and son-in-law with the lullaby, "Day Is Done."

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Caroline (Lasak) Mallek who died in 1990, as well as his parents and brothers: Edward Mallek, Stephen Mallek, Leo Mallek, and sister Stella Mallek. He is survived by daughter Dr. Ann Savers (Norman) Little Rock Arkansas, sons Dr. Henry M. Mallek (Nancy) Washington DC, and Dr. Mark L. Mallek (Marie) Nashua NH. His grandchildren: Emily Harless (Joshua) Potomac MD, Natasha Garayta (Patrick) Kensington, MD; Marissa Mallek Bethesda MD, Capt. (Dr.) Henry Mallek Abilene TX, Maxwell Mallek Washington DC; Mark Mallek (Sheila) Brooklyn NY, Fiona Bradford (Sam) London England, Kathleen Cuckler (Michael) Lakeway TX, and Susan Brett (Kevin) Southlake TX, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank his care givers, the Visiting Angels, including Valerie Bayko, Judy Sevigny, Line Gardner, Jane Ann Frink and others. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Gabriel Parish, 108 School Street, Franklin NH 03235.

There will be no calling hours. He will be buried next to his beloved wife in Holy Cross Cemetery, Franklin NH, in the spring.

Day is done,
Gone the sun,
From the fields, from the hills, from the sky,
All is well, safely rest
God is nigh.
