Hilda Susan Landsman, 89, of Derry, NH, passed away on September 18, 2025, at Pleasant Valley in Derry, surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 10, 1936 in in Newark NJ, she was the daughter of Irving and Jeanette Eskowitz (Wahler). Most of her life Hilda lived in the White Meadow Lake section of Rockaway Township NJ where she was a member of the White Meadow Lake Temple, Chabad of Northern NJ and NJ Hospital Pharmacist Association.
Hilda was a woman ahead of her time. She graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Pharmacy in 1958, before women were accepted into the field. Her career spanned for 46 years from White’s Pharmacy in Dover NJ to Morristown Memorial, St Clares Hospital, Morris View Nursing Home and retired as a Consultant Pharmacist in 2005.
Hilda married the love of her life, David Landsman, in 1958. Hilda and David opened Landsman’s Bakery in Nutley NJ early in their marriage and she was an essential part of the designs of many cakes and of course, a taste tester.
Hilda and David moved to Hooksett NH in 2006 to be closer to their children.
Hilda was known by her community and friends as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and community helper. Hilda had a love for music that reached to every corner of the earth. She was a music collector and her friends and family knew that music was her passion. No matter the language or the rhythm, she loved it all.
To have known Hilda was to love her. She was quick witted and had one liners that would bring laughter and smiles to a conversation. Her love and zest for life was proven by her resilience to adversity. She always had a hug, a smile and her signature wave as you left her.
Hilda will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and her community.
Hilda is survived by her children, Michael Landsman of Bethesda MD, Charles “CJ” Landsman of Concord NH, Jeanette Chasin and her husband Steven, of Londonderry NH; Granddaughters, Corey Blohm and husband Andrew and great grandson Samuel Blohm of Barrington NH, Ilana Chasin of Washington DC and Maya Chasin of Lexington KY; her sister Charlotte Eskowitz of Manchester NJ; Nieces and nephews in France amongst a large extended family in the USA, France, Israel, and Australia.
She was predeceased by her loving husband in 2013.
A funeral and burial was held on Friday 9/19 at the Manchester Hebrew Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
