Howard Allen Tawney, 74, of Manchester died March 30, 2016 at the Elliot Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in San Jose, CA on August 26, 1941, he was the son of John and Ruth (Pheley) Tawney. He earned his bachelor's degree at Florida International University and master's degree from Old Dominion University.
Prior to retirement, he had served in the US Coast Guard for 23 years earning the rank of Commander. After the Coast Guard Howard retired from employment with the State of New Hampshire.
Howard was a proud veteran, historian, and all around chivalrous man who will be remembered as a gentleman who cherished time spent with his family.
Family members include his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara Tawney of Manchester; his daughter, Rebecca Harvill and husband Shaun of Atlanta, GA; two grandsons, Grayson and Braxton Harvill of Atlanta; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A brief service was held on Friday, April 8, 2016 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester..
