Sister Ida McGinnis (Sr. Maria de l'Enfant Jesus), 75, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Manchester, NH died September 16, 2004, at the Elliot Hospital.
Born February 3, 1929, in Berlin, NH, she was the daughter of Thomas and Adelaide (Frechette) McGinnis. She entered the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1945, made her first Profession in 1948, and her final Profession in 1953.
She received a Bachelor of Education Degree from Catholic Teachers College, Providence, RI and did post-graduate studies at Notre Dame College in Manchester.
She taught in elementary grades in West Warwick, Albion, Woonsocket, and Marievelle, RI, for 12 years, and in Berlin and Manchester, NH for 7 years. She then became a Nurses Aide for 4 years at St. Joseph Residence in Manchester. For 51 years, she was in charge of either Parish or Community sacristies and chapels in Rhode Island and New Hampshire, 14 of those years at St. Marie Residence, Manchester and 17 years at Rivier College, Nashua.
Family members include two sisters, Mrs. Irene Picard of West Warwick, RI and Mrs. Juliette Tilton of Berlin, NH; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Resurrection Chapel, St. Marie Residence, on Saturday Se[tember 18, 2004. Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson, NH.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester, NH handled the arrangements.
