Ida Saitas, 88, of Manchester, NH died on April 11, 2017 after a long-term illness.
Born February 20, 1929 in Manchester, Ida was the daughter of Katherine (Pervanas) Saitas and Cosmas Saitas. She resided in Manchester throughout her life.
Ida was a dedicated and lifelong member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of which her parents were founding members. She sang in the choir for most of her adult life and was an active member in the local community. Her kindness towards all was one of her most enduring qualities.
Ida worked for General Motors Corporation for twenty years, and after a short retirement, she returned to work at the Manchester Welfare Department.
Ida was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, and aunt. Her family includes one brother, Michael Saitas of Tulsa, OK; three sisters, Asimo Manelas of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Chrysanthy Hoover of Lakewood, CO, and Katherine "Katy" Pappas of Manchester, and many loving nieces and nephews who reside throughout the country. She was predeceased by her brothers, Xenophon Saitas, Harold Saitas, Stanley Saitas, and Stephen Saitas and her sister, Penny Kamberis of Manchester.
The funeral was held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 111 Island Pond Rd., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Road, Manchester. Donations may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 111 Island Pond Rd., Manchester, NH 03109.
