She was born in Manchester on December 13, 1931 to Edward and Annie (Boisvert) Provencher. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
She worked as a secretary at local insurance agencies in the Manchester area for many years.
Irene was an active communicant and volunteer at St. Anne-St. Augustin Parish for many years. She was an avid motor home traveler and had been a member of several travel clubs. She enjoyed needlepoint and time spent with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lucien Cartier; a brother, Maurice Provencher; and two sisters, Rachel Bourassa and Dorothy Guilbeault.
The family includes a brother, Leonard Provencher and his wife, Lucille, of Hooksett and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Anne-St. Augustin Parish, corner of Beech and Spruce streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Augustin Cemetery, South Beech Street, Manchester.
