Sr. Irene Desmarais (Sr. Stanislaus de l'Eucharistie), 96, of the Presentation of Mary Sisters, 495 Mammoth Rd., Manchester, NH died August 27, 2005 at her residence after a brief illness.
Born in Fall River, MA on May 17, 1909, she was the daughter of Louis and Marianna (Gardner) Desmarais. She entered the order of the Presentation of Mary Sisters in 1929, made her profession in 1931 and her perpetual vows in 1936.
Sr. Desmarais taught at elementary schools in Artic, RI and in New Hampshire at Berlin and Dover. She taught high school in New Hampshire at Notre Dame in Berlin and St. Marie in Manchester. She also served as CCD coordinator in West Warwick, RI.
The family includes two brothers, Albert Desmarais of Fall River, MA and Norman Desmarais of Connecticut; three sisters, Yvette Lavoie, Rose Spear and Lillian Castonguay all of Fall River, MA; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday August 31, 2005 in the Resurrection Chapel. Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson, NH.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH assisted with arrangements.
