Irene (Clang) Fontaine, 98, of Manchester, died August 25, 2017 at Greenbriar Terrace in Nashua after a period of declining health.
She was born in Manchester on September 6, 1918 to Henry and Nellie (LaRochelle) Clang. She lived in Manchester for most of her life.
Irene worked at New England Telephone Company for over 40 years. She was a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers.
She was predeceased her husband, Rene "Ray" Fontaine in 2001 and by two sisters, Eva Stone and Blanche Cantin.
The family includes two sons, James E. Fontaine and his wife, Susan, of Manchester and Russell E. Fontaine and his wife, Kelly, of Litchfield; two grandchildren, Amanda Comeau and her husband, Christopher, and Kristen Billings and her husband, Brandon; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Comeau and Hannah Billings; and nieces and nephews
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
