She was born in Manchester on November 7, 1919, the daughter of Leo and Diana (Lefebvre) Gionet. She was educated in the local Catholic school system and graduated from St. George High School.
Irene loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cross-stitching and crossword puzzles. Irene was also an avid card player. Music, walking, and Sunday drives were other enjoyable activities for her.
She was predeceased by her husband Rosaire Gagne in 1996.
Members of her family include three daughters, Pauline Morrissette and her husband Gerald of Manchester, Sr. Therese Gagne, PM, of Manchester, Claire Dellomo and her husband Michael of Gaithersburg, MD; two sons, Robert Gagne and his wife Vita of Boyds, MD, and Donald Gagne and his wife Carol of Redmond, WA; seven grandchildren, Jenny Sachetti, Stefan Gagne, Theresa Dellomo, John Dellomo, Anna Dellomo, Joseph Gagne, and Michael Gagne; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday December 8, 2007 in The Parish of the Transfiguration, Kelley St., Manchester. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
