Irene Swist

   Irene (Desmarais)(Plamondon) Swist, 93, of Manchester, died peacefully in her sleep on April 15, 2023 at her home after a period of declining health.

   She was born in Manchester on October 1, 1929 to Edmond and Jeannette (Marcotte) Desmarais.  She lived in Manchester for most of her life.

   Irene had worked at Kinney Roofing Company and the medical practice of Dr. Arthur Walsh, both in Manchester, for many years. 

   Her passion was knitting and she produced many beautiful sweaters and hats.

   She was predeceased by her first husband, Major Robert P. Plamondon in 1967; her second husband, Thomas A. Swist in 1991 and two brothers, Roger Desmarais and Dr. Robert A. Desmarais.

   Irene is survived by three children, Robert P. Plamondon, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Manchester, Marc H. Plamondon and his wife, Brenda, of Hampton and Susan E. Brown of Bedford; four grandchildren, Amy Plamondon of St. Petersburg, FL, Geoffrey Brown of Manchester, Ross Brown and his wife, Ally, of Londonderry and Stephen Savoie and his wife, Sarah, of Kingston; a sister, Claire Rivard of Manchester and nieces and nephews.

   SERVICES:  There are no calling hours.  A private cemetery committal service will be at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at the convenience of the family.
