Jacques I. Blanchette, 81, of Epsom, passed away at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Sunday, November 16, 2025, following a sudden and brief illness.
He was born in St. Gerard, Quebec, Canada on June 28, 1944, to the late Côme and Lucienne (Fontaine) Blanchette. He was the oldest of seven children, Guy, Theresa, Michael, Francis, John, and Richard.
Jacques moved to the United States when he was 18, working at BB Shoe Factory in Manchester for four years. He then started a new career in granite work for several years, followed by construction and framing work. He was well known for his beautiful monument engraving. He finally returned to his passion for granite work, engraver, and carving. He started his own business in Epsom, NH supported by his family, for his talent as an engraver, artist, and sculptor. He was also known throughout the area for his beautifully sculpted 3-D granite roses. He was the artist who created the medallion at the four corners in Boston, honoring Mayor White.
Jacques loved hocky and playing the guitar; he always joked he wanted to be a cowboy and was often found watching country westerns. He was a great lover of Elvis and country music.
Jacques married in 1964 to Huguette Massé. They were married for 30 years during which they had five beautiful children, Guylaine, Dany, Steven, Sabrina and Cynthia. He was very proud of their successes and accomplishments.
Jacques is survived by his loving partner, Ghislaine Dumont, who provided him with a loving home and partnership. He is also survived by his children, Guylaine (Kevin) Young, Dany (Christine) Blanchette, Steven (Brenda) Blanchette, Sabrina (Dana) Frenette and Cynthia (Marc) Dame along with many grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews.
Jacques was predeceased by his parents, Côme and Lucienne, his sister Francis, and his grandson Derek.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be from 4pm to 6pm on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Lambert Funeral Home and Crematory, 1799 Elm Street, Manchester, NH. A funeral service will follow the calling hours, starting promptly at 6pm. At the request of the family, a private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donation in Jacques’ name can be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
