James E. Chaney

James E. "Jim" Chaney, PhD, 82, of Manchester, NH died April 26, 2022 at his home after a brief period of declining health.

He was born in Richmond, KY on February 17, 1940 to Walden and Beulah (Marion) Chaney. He lived in Long Island, NY, Lexington, KY, Nottingham, MD and Hollis, NH before moving to Manchester five years ago.

He earned his doctorate degree in organic chemistry from the University of Louisville (KY) and worked as a reviewer for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for many years. He also served in the National Guard for six years.

Jim was very adventurous in his life. He had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying small airplanes to many destinations along with his wife, Janet. Together, they also enjoyed cruising and square dancing.

Jim will be remembered for his kindness towards everyone, Irish sense of humor and sharp mind.

He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Autry-Mae Chaney.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Janet E. (Searby) Chaney of Manchester, NH; two siblings, Frank Chaney and his wife, Joyce, and Julia Griggs and her husband, Wayne, all of Richmond, KY; a sister-in-law, Carol Barth and her husband, Richard Sr., of Hudson, MA; and many nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Private burial is at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua.
