James A. Geanis

September 14, 1916 — April 19, 2006

James A. Geanis, 89, of Manchester, NH died April 19, 2006 at the Elliot Hospital after a short illness.

He was born in Lowell, MA on September 14, 1916, the son of Apostolos and Evangeline (Zaharias) Geanis. He was educated in the Lowell school system. He was a WWII US Army Veteran.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Geanis had operated the Horace Greeley Restaurant in Milford, NH for many years. He had also managed the concession stands at the JFK Coliseum, Gill Stadium, and West Side Arena for many years.

Mr. Geanis was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and was a member of the AHEPA Society.

Members of his family include his wife of 63 years, Fanny (Bardas) Geanis of Manchester; a daughter, Dianne Jenkins of Manchester; a granddaughter and her husband, Heidi and Mark Murray of Bedford, NH; two great-grandsons, Peyton and Blake Murray of Bedford, NH; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The funeral service was held Monday April 24, 2006 in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral with the Rev. Andrew Mahalares officiating. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.
