James M. Gianferante, 78, of Manchester died December 3, 2022 with his wife by his side. Under his sometimes gruff exterior, he had a heart of gold. He was a friend to all who knew him and best friend to his wife Melanie. He loved to tell jokes and pull pranks on everyone but would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on September 12, 1944, he was the son of Gerald and Rowena (Barrett) Gianferante. He earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Anselm College.
Prior to retirement, after years of working in retail, he was finally able to realize his dream of being back in the golf industry. He worked as the assistant pro at Derryfield Country Club in Manchester, and then was appointed as the Head Golf Professional there. He later held a number of golf related positions as a teaching pro and working in retail golf shops.
Jim loved animals and all things sports related. Golf was his passion, followed by all the New England sports teams.
Family members include his wife of over 47 years, Melanie (Bartlett) Gianferante of Manchester; his sister, Lois Ladyn and husband Hank of Big Fork, MT; brother-in-law, Kevin Bartlett and wife Claire of Weare.
Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, will be Saturday, December 10th from 1 to 4 pm followed by a brief service at 4 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Page’s Corner Cemetery, Dunbarton, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, NH 03102.
