James F. Link, 91, of Hooksett, NH, (formerly of Reading, OH) died September 13th, 2022, at Hackett Hill Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glendale, OH on December 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Marie C. (Roth) Link. He was a graduate of Reading High School, then served in the US Navy for 4 years before being honorably discharged at the rank of Second-Class Petty Officer. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree from Xavier University in 1959. He became a history teacher at St. Bernard High School in Cincinnati and taught for 5 years. He transitioned his career to become a special agent in the FBI in 1965, starting as an investigator in Atlanta, GA and transferred to the Boston, MA office as the New England Regional Firearms Instructor and SWAT unit leader.
Jim was an outdoor enthusiast enjoying trap shooting, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid football fan playing during his high school and college years. He was adventurous and very accomplished, and his family was what was most important to him. Above all else, he will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Surviving family members include his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth J. (Haskamp) Link; four children Jenny Foley and husband David, Julie Ferro and husband Douglas, James Link and partner Tony Clark, and Terence Link and wife Laurel; six grandchildren, Brian Momani, Brendan McGee, Kathryn and Carolyn Ferro, Joshua and Sarah Link. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Link and sister Elaine Calhoun.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, Sept. 20th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 225 Hemlock St., Manchester, NH 03104. Burial will be private to family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The May Institute Office of Philanthropy, 41 Pacella Park Dr. Randolph, MA 02368 (grandson’s school for autism); Alzheimer’s Assoc. of NH, 166 S. River Rd., Bedford, NH 03110; or American Cancer Society of NH, 2 Commerce Dr., Ste. 110, Bedford, NH 03110.
