James A. McNamara

January 3, 1957 — January 18, 2014

James A. McNamara, 57, of Hooksett, passed away suddenly on January 18, 2014, at the Elliot Hospital.

He was born in Portsmouth on January 3, 1957, the son of Paul and Norma (Greenan) McNamara. He graduated from Portsmouth High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree, in Business Administration, from SNHU.

James worked many years in office furniture sales and was employed by Business Interiors by Staples. He was known as a very dedicated and meticulous man. Taking care of his home and his yard was his passion, always having a "perfectly manicured lawn". He loved being at the beach, playing golf and music. James knew every word to every oldies song. Although he had many things that brought joy to his life, he loved being with his family more than anything else.

His family includes his wife of 30 years, Karen (Whitten) McNamara of Hooksett; a daughter Michelle McNamara-Bingham of Dover; three sons, Joshua Slovack, and wife Maureen, of Belchertown, MA, Zachary McNamara of Hooksett, and Jacob McNamara of Hooksett; three grandchildren, McKenna and Brant Bingham of Dover, and Gabriella Slovack of Belchertown, MA; two brothers, Michael McNamara of VA, and Timothy McNamara, and wife Lynne, of RI; two sisters, Kathleen Groff of OH, and Patricia, and husband Phil Colby, of VT; and several nieces, nephews & cousins. He was predeceased by both of his parents and brother-in-law, John Groff.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "Vision International Mission of NH", 400 Bedford St., Suite 304, Manchester, NH 03101.
