James M. Nealon 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 30, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son to the late Daniel and Margaret (Forde) Nealon. Following his graduation from Mount Carmel High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army achieving the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Through the GI bill he attended the University of Illinois graduating with a B.S. in History. After graduating he married the love of his life Dolores and worked for Armstrong Corporation. Eventually, he branched out on his own, honing his skills in construction and establishing his own business. He was a talented businessman and land developer who excelled in both ownership and management of Lifetime Construction.

James was a devout catholic and longtime active member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish and the Sisters of the Precious Blood Monastery.

James was an avid reader, especially mysteries and historical fiction. He loved “words” and had an extensive vocabulary – often quizzing his children and grandchildren. The same goes for geography and he and his wife Dolores were fortunate to travel the world. He was a true sports enthusiast. He enjoyed basketball- playing in local leagues, swimming, golfing and in his younger years boxing. A family game of “hoops” was always fun especially around the holidays. He took a special interest in each of his grandchildren’s activities and schooling and was adored by them all. His goal in life was to love and support his family and that he did.

James is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Dolores (Smolenski) Nealon; daughters, Lizabeth MacDonald and her husband, Paul of Manchester and Catherine Fenton and her husband, Steve of Hampstead; son Matthew Nealon and his wife, Kristen of Manchester; son-in-law, Todd Herman of NY; nine grandchildren, Shannon, Matthew, Christopher, Stephanie, Jessica, Woodrow, Zachary, Nora and Clara; 8 great-grandchildren, Elle, Madison, Connor, Alexander, Allison, Meghan, Camryn and Blaire; brother, Philip Nealon of Las Vegas and nephew, Daniel Scesnewicz. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Stephanie Nealon and his sister, Margaret Scesnewicz.
