James W. Rooney, 64, of Bedford, died April 1, 2022 at his home after a sudden illness.
He was born in Dearborn, MI on January 2, 1958 to James J. and Elizabeth (Danowski) Rooney.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and a master's degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
James worked his entire career as a mechanical engineer at Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation (Westinghouse).
He enjoyed golf, reading, running, biking, skiing, hiking, basketball, and pets.
He was predeceased by his father and his niece, Cara Calitre.
James is survived by his wife of 36 years, Monique (Biron) Rooney of Bedford; two sons, James J. Rooney of Los Angeles, CA, and Justin C. Rooney of Cambridge, MA; his mother of Southington, CT; three sisters, Nancy Thompson and her husband, Ron, of Brea, CA, Lisa Cooper and her husband, Gary, of Southington, CT and Carolyn Calitre and her husband, Philip, of Boulder, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday (4/7) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (4/8) at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford. The Friday service can be streamed online through St. Elizabeth Seton's website: https://stelizabethsetonchurch.org/.
