James W. "Jim" Marraty

December 3, 1951 — December 2, 2018

James "Jim" Warren Marraty, passed away in the early morning hours of December 2, 2018 at his home in Merrimack surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters. He was one day shy of his 67th birthday.

Jim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer only a few short weeks ago. With the love and support of his family, he went into battle as fierce as one of the many fighter jets he worked on for the Navy.

Jim was born in Portland, ME on December 3, 1951. He is predeceased by his parents James Harold Marraty and Helen Robertha Davis. He grew up in Derry and was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, where he participated in many activities including school plays, track, baseball, football and was president of his class.

He graduated from New Hampshire Technical Institute with an associate's degree in engineering and a major in electronic engineering technology with further education at MIT.

Jim retired from Teradyne as an Applications Engineer-Defense and Aerospace in December of 2017 after 36 years and continued on as a consultant. He was passionate about his work and grateful for the worldly travels and personal connections he made along the way.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved the beauty of New Hampshire. He enjoyed skiing, hiking, fishing with friends and camping with his wife, Marcy and their dog Snickers. He loved to share his knowledge of the trees and birds that surrounded his sanctuary in Merrimack.

Music was an extension of his soul. From an early age he played saxophone in a variety of bands including jazz, rock and big bands. He enjoyed going out with friends to listen to live music around New Hampshire and finding new artists online.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Marcy Marraty; daughters, Tricia Marraty and Amy Pirri; sisters, Jane Marraty and Judy Demers; nieces, nephews and the brightest lights of his life, his five grandchildren, Lorenzo, Ella, Hunter, River and Maia Jean.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal."
-Irish proverb
"The song is ended, but the melody lingers on…"
- Irving Berlin, songwriter.
