She was born in Manchester on November 13, 1917 to Antoni and Katarzyna (Polchlopek) Mendzela. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
She worked several years at Handley Yarns during the 1960's and for over 20 years as a secretary at Hillside Junior High School.
Jane loved spending time with her family as well as playing Scrabble and Bridge. She enjoyed knitting and going bowling with her friends.
She was a member of the Manchester Women's Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward C. Putney Sr. in 1976; a daughter, Jane E. Ganem in 2011; an infant son, James Matthew Putney in 1944; and a daughter-in-law, Dona F. Putney in 2010.
Family members include three sons, Edward Putney Jr. of Rye, John M. Putney and his wife, Suzette, of Bedford and Thomas A. Putney and his wife, Sharon, of Milford; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private funeral service for the family was planned.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester assisted the family with arrangements.
