Janet M. Frost (Grady), 89, of Manchester, NH passed away on Tuesday, August 10 after a period of declining health.
Janet, a first generation American, was born in Manchester, NH on May 4, 1932 to Henry J. and Winifred M. (Macaulay) Grady. She graduated from Central High School and later attended the Kathleen Dell Secretarial School in Brookline, Ma. living on the Fenway during that time.
Janet was married to Robinson "Bob" Clark Frost, Jr. on June 18, 1955. They were married for 48 years before Bob passed away in 2003.
Janet and Bob lived briefly in South Carolina during Bob's military service and in later years resided in Laconia and Littleton, finally settling in the Frost family home in Manchester. Each summer, the family would pack up and spend the summer at Pleasant Lake in Deerfield, NH making "camp" their home base from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
When her son was young, Janet enjoyed taking him often to Rye Beach to visit cousins and "Aunties" and has fond memories of teaching horseback riding as a teen.
Janet worked as a secretary for NH Insurance after high school and later for Dr. James Philip's medical practice in Littleton. Her most rewarding job, however, was as director of Brookside Nursery School in Manchester for twenty-eight years. She loved children and was always happy to run into her former students in town or read about their accomplishments in the newspaper.
She was a consummate "Yankee," saving and recycling long before the television show, Flea Market Flip, was popular. She was skilled at sewing, reupholstering and refinishing furniture.
Janet is survived by a son Dr. David C. Frost and daughter- in-law Christine (McDonald) of Bow, NH; a grandson Daniel H. Frost and wife Chelsea (Stickney) of Concord, NH; a granddaughter Meredith J. (Frost) O'Brien and husband Justin and great-grandson Carter O' Brien of Hopkinton, NH; her brother, Robert E. Grady of Manchester, NH; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
