Janet (Dwyer) Mitchell, 84, of the Partridge House in Hampton, died June 20, 2021 at Portsmouth Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester on March 3, 1937 to Daniel and Jeannette (Hebert) Dwyer. She graduated from St. Joseph High School for Girls in 1955 and lived in Manchester for most of her life before moving to Hampton in 2001. She had also wintered in St. Petersburg, FL for many years.
Janet was the life of the party who loved an audience, and wouldn't hesitate to pick up a microphone and sing or to dance. She enjoyed many years of pool parties, camping, playing cards, backyard BBQ's, making her special meatball subs, traveling and spending time with her family at the beach house. She was an avid reader of the biographies of a wide spectrum of people; she loved Elvis, Lee Majors, Vince Gill and had a special place in her heart for the Gaynor girls.
She was predeceased by her husband, John M. "Mitch" Mitchell, Jr. in 2014 and by three siblings, Daniel Dwyer, Paul Dwyer and Doris Duval.
She is survived by five children, Karen O'Shaughnessy and her spouse, Christine Martin, of Manchester, John D. Mitchell and his wife, Mary (Connolly), of Rye, Kathleen Labbe of Manchester, Mary-Frances Tintle of Raeford, NC and Patrick Mitchell and his wife, Erin (Carlucci), of Troutdale, OR; 11 grandchildren including Robina Parise, who was a loving caregiver to her grandmother; nine great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Private interment will be at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
