Janice Rooney

Janice (Mahoney) Rooney, 76, of Bedford, died August 12, 2017 at Elliot Hospital after a long illness.

She was the daughter of Laurence and Anne (O'Connor) Mahoney. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1958, Mt. St. Mary College in 1962, Rivier College in 1971 and Suffolk University in 1985. She was honored by a Papal blessing when she was married in 1964 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Manchester.

Janice worked as a guidance counselor for the Manchester School District for many years. She was a member of the National Education Association, the NH Educational Association and the Manchester Area Retired Education Association.

Janice will be remembered for seeing the humorous side to most situations. She was grateful to have lived a wonderful life and felt lucky to have had so many opportunities and dear family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Larry F. Mahoney and a son-in-law, Keith P. Landry.

The family includes her husband of 53 years, John "Jack" Rooney of Bedford; two daughters, Tara A. Landry and Krista A. McCarthy and her husband, Patrick, all of Manchester; two grandchildren, Ian J. Landry and Nora R. Landry; a sister, June A. Orzechowski and her husband, Richard, of Hooksett; a sister-in-law, Toni Ann Mahoney of Ft. Payne, AL; "her guys", Brent, Ryan and Richard Orzechowski as well as Lonnie and Kathleen Mahoney and Christine Kastovich .
A Celebration of Life took place on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Puritan Conference Center, 240 Hooksett Rd., Manchester.
Private burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford at the convenience of the family.
