Jean F. Belanger, 86, of Auburn, died July 29, 2014 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester after a long illness.

He was born in Hartford, CT on June 4, 1928 to Jean and Rose (Dubois) Belanger. He lived in Auburn for many years.

During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of sergeant.

Jean worked as a carpenter at Key-Loc Mobile Homes and as a painter at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood and was an usher at St. Peter's Church in Auburn.

He enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening and time spent with his family.

He was married to Eugenia (Janton) Belanger who died in 2008. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Joanne C. Belanger; his twin brother, Joseph, and other siblings, Roland, Cecilia, Rita, Robert and John.

The family includes a daughter, Suzanne Belanger of Alaska; a niece, Debra Herod and her husband, Donald, of Manchester; a step daughter, Helen Scarpello of Connecticut; a granddaughter, Sara Jean Sternberg; a great granddaughter, Paetyn An'Jolina Sternberg; a step son, Alan Montour; a niece, Brenda Guyer; two great nieces, Christen Herod and Melissa Taylor; and three great nephews, Mark Herod, Stephen Herod and Adam Herod.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at St. Peter's Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
