Jean-Guy Sylvain, 78, of Manchester, died February 27, 2016 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home after a long period of declining health.
He was born in Ste. Sylvestre, Quebec, Canada on February 2, 1938 to Donat and Maria (Champagne) Sylvain. He lived in Manchester for most of his life.
Mr. Sylvain worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years. He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins. He had coached baseball at Manchester West Little League and hockey at Manchester Regional Youth Hockey Association. He was also a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood.
He was predeceased by his parents and 10 siblings.
The family includes two sons, Eric Sylvain and his wife, Rozanne, of Bedford and Steve Sylvain of Manchester; two grandchildren, Jack and Max Sylvain; four siblings, Therese, Germaine, Jean-Thomas and Irene Sylvain all of Canada; his former wife, Jeannine Rousseau of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral ceremony was held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester.
