Jean S. Hodgdon passed away on August 27, 2022 at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center.
Jean was born on May 31, 1930, in Lewiston, ME to Abner and Emma (McCarthy) Hodgdon. She received her early education in Lewiston and attended Lewiston High School. She graduated from the Central Maine General Hospital School of Radiology and went on to work at Radiological Associated in Manchester, NH for many years.
After retiring, she was employed part-time at the Doctor’s Office on Bay Street in Manchester.
Jean enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad, cooking, reading, and knitting. She was one of many to knit caps for the various hospitals for new born babies. She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family.
Family members include her niece, Dorothea Jacob and her daughter Cooper of California; a nephew, James Maher and wife Lisa of Florida and their daughter Ashley; nephew, James Hodgdon and his son James of Connecticut; Dick Dube of Vermont and his family; her best friend, Jennie Inglis of Manchester and her adopted family, George and Joan Neagle, Deanna Bechard and husband Bobby, and Glenn Neagle; as well as her Villa Crest family.
She was predeceased by her sister, Sheila Maher and husband Jim; brother, James Hodgdon and her lifelong best friend, Dorothy Fournier.
A visiting hour will be held in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, Manchester, will be Thursday, September 8th from 4 to 5 pm followed by a memorial service in the funeral home chapel at 5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean’s memory to the Manchester Visiting Nurses’ Association, 1070 Holt Ave, Suite 1400, Manchester, NH 03109.
