Jeanne E. Gilbert

She was born in Manchester, April 17, 1916, and was the daughter of Appolinaire and Rose Anna (Pettigrew) Gamache. She was a lifelong resident of this city.

Mrs. Gilbert worked in several area mills including Manchester Knitted Fashions. She also worked for a time at Home Insurance Co.

She was a communicant of Parish of the Transfiguration.

She was married to Edouard A. Gilbert, who died in 1999.

Throughout her life, Jeanne delighted in the company of family and friends. Especially after her husband, Edouard, had retired, they enjoyed various trips to visit their children in distant states as well as other excursions with friends. The beauty of the New Hampshire Mountains held a special place in her heart as well as the unforgettable trip to Alaska in 2002. Even in her late 80's, she regularly walked about three miles a day.

The family wants to thank the staffs of Courville at Manchester and Catholic Medical Center for their care of our mother which combined professionalism with genuine concern.

Family members include two daughters, Suzanne S. Gilbert of Manchester and Jeannine H. Daigneault of Livingston, TX; a son, Dr. Normand A. Gilbert of Okemos, MI; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Simone Gregoire and Ghislaine Compagna, both of Manchester; three brothers, Richard Gamache of Colorado Springs, CO, Bertrand Gamache, of Manchester and Philippe Gamache of Nashua; many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday June 22, 2007 at Parish of the Transfiguration. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
