Jeanne R. (Desilets) Simard, 85, of Manchester died September 30, 2003 at Catholic Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Manchester on February 3, 1918, she was the daughter of Albert and Anna M. (Gingras) Desilets. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
She worked in the shoe industry at J.F. McElwain Shoe Company and Myrna Shoe for many years.
Mrs. Simard was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking and had been named "Cook of the Month", a feature in the Union Leader some years ago.
She was married to Herve J. Simard who died in 1975. She was also predeceased by two children, Robert Simard and Constance Simard.
The family includes nine children, Andre H. Simard of Hooksett, Lucille E. Long of Plymouth, Lorraine J. Roberge of Milton, Raymond L. Simard and Denis A. Simard both of Manchester, Maurice H. Simard and Collette M.J. Makar both of Deerfield, Edward Simard of Goffstown and Celina M. Simard of Manchester; 20 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; a sister, Julie Hawachyn of Black Mountain, NC; many nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Friday October 3, 2003 in the funeral home. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
