We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Mom and Mémère, Jeannette (Giguere) Boucher, age 95, on May 5, 2026 following a period of declining health.
She was born on November 22, 1930 in Lac Etchemin, QC, Canada. She was the third of nine children born to Wilfrid and Cecile (Ferland) Giguere.
Prior to her first retirement to care for our Dad, Jeannette worked as a seamstress for Pandora and other clothing manufacturing establishments. She later worked for St. Anselm College and St. Peter’s Day Care where she took her second retirement at age 79.
Mom was devoted to her family and loved doting on them with delicious meals, particularly her special potato salad, blueberry pancakes, brown sugar pie and to-die-for molasses cookies. If we asked very nicely, she made us a batch of whoopie pies.
She delighted in attending her grandkids’ and great-grandkids’ sporting, ice skating and band events. She was seen on these venues well into her 90’s.
Even though she sewed all day at her place of work, she often came home and after dinner sat at her personal sewing machine and whipped up clothing for her daughter, daughter-in-law and grandkids. Mom was a perfectionist, and her garments were of a professional quality.
Jeannette was a humble, self-effacing woman. She did not participate much in organized volunteering, but she was always ready to give an elderly neighbor a ride to the market or to the doctor’s, a special meal or an encouraging word. She was a devout Catholic, attending mass faithfully throughout her life. She had a very long prayer list for her family and friends. You could count on her to plead your case to the Lord.
Jeannette was pre-deceased by her dear husband of 50+ years, Herve Boucher, who passed on July 17, 1999. Also her parents, three sisters, Ghislaine, Bibiane and Marcelle and her brother Guy plus her daughter’s life partner, Andy Boudreau.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Bernard and Helene Boucher, her daughter Claire Boucher, her grandson and wife, Paul and Melissa Boucher, her granddaughter and husband Nicole and Kevin Lussier and four great grandchildren, Aubrey Boucher, Eli Lussier, Zachary Boucher and Owen Lussier; her sisters Fernande Giguere, Lucette Giguere (Rene) and Louise Giguere (Jacques) and one brother, Maurice Giguere; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
We wish to thank the staff of Maple Leaf Health Care and Elliot VNA Hospice for the tender caring they rendered to our loved one. We are very appreciative.
