Jeannine M. Ballou, 90, of Manchester, formerly of New Boston, died May 21, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, after a period of declining health.

Born in Huntington, WV on March 30, 1935, she was the daughter of the late David and Mildred (Stewart) Freeland. She was educated in West Virginia and was a graduate of Huntington East High School. Jeannine served in the US Marine Corps and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal in 1956. She worked as a data entry operator and retired from Holden Engineering in 1997.

Jeannine enjoyed ceramics, knitting, sewing, bowling and, most recently, quilting. Time spent with her family was what she loved the most and her grandchildren were the light in her life. Above all else, she will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Family includes her husband of 69 years, John D. Ballou of Manchester; three children, Debra Ballou of Dover, David Ballou and wife Barbara of Francestown, and Diane Bean and husband Brian of Hillsborough; seven grandchildren, John, Katy, Ken, Kimberly and husband Eli of Las Vegas, Matthew, Bethany and Abigail and her husband Eric of Concord; one great grandson, Nathan: and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mae Hodge and her brother, Bill Freeland.

SERVICES: There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at New Boston Community Church, 2 Meetinghouse Hill Road, New Boston, NH 03070. A reception with light refreshments will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Boston Community Church or the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
