Jennifer C. (Corbin) Downer, 48, of Hooksett, NH, died May 21, 2017 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Beverly, MA on January 21, 1969, she was the daughter of Nora (Kimball) McLaughlin and Ernest Corbin. She graduated from Winnacunnett High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Plymouth State University.
Prior to her illness, she had been a substitute teacher in the Hooksett School System. She had also been a teacher in the Manchester School System.
Her favorite times were spent with her children and her family. She loved camping, trips to Disney and anything that allowed the family to be together. An ardent supporter of her kids, she was a permanent fixture at her daughter's baton competitions, dance recitals, talent shows, pageants, and field hockey games. She was equally happy watching her son play ice hockey, baseball, flag football, and cheering him on at his cross-country meets. Known for her quick smile and infectious sense of humor she cheered for all participants and truly enjoyed watching them all play.
Above all else, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Family members include her husband of nearly 20 years, Michael E. Downer of Hooksett; two children, Madeline and Andrew Downer of Hooksett; her mother, Nora McLaughlin and husband William of Hampton; her brother Michael McLaughlin of Boulder, CO; her father, Ernest Corbin and wife Joyce of Rye; aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, May 26, 2017 in St. Peter Church, Auburn, NH Burial followed in St. Patrick Cemetery, Hudson, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jennifer C. Downer Memorial Fund, PO Box 16522, Hooksett, NH 03106. Proceeds will be used to benefit area child causes that were so dear to her heart.
