Jerdis A. Johnson, 95, of Bedford died January 30, 2019 at Concord Hospice House, after a period of declining health.
Born in Bronx, NY on December 22, 1923, she was the daughter of Thomas and Marie Christine (Matheson) Swanson. She was educated in Bronx, NY, and earned her high school diploma in Groton, CT. She was a WWII US Navy Veteran and a member of W.A.V.E.S.
Jerdis was an all around volunteer while living in Groton, Ct. She spent much of her time volunteering at Faith Lutheran Church, for the Bloodmobile, Girl Scouts, and voter registrations. She taught crafts at the Odd Fellows Home and also organized the Girl Scouts for the parades and cookie drives.
Jerdis was very kind and giving. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd N. Johnson, in 2008.
Family includes her daughter, Karen M. Keary of Hooksett; her son, Thomas E. Johnson and wife Helen of Port St. Lucie, FL; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and her close friend, Robert McClellan of Seattle, WA. She was also predeceased by her three siblings.
Calling hours are Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester.
