Jeremiah J. Spring

Jeremiah J. Spring, 89, of Manchester, NH, passed away on September 12, 2007, after a long illness.

Born in Manchester on October 22, 1917, he was the son of Margaret (Shea) and Jeremiah A. Spring. He attended St Joseph's Grammar School, St Joseph's High School and was a 1939 graduate of St Anselm's College.

A Veteran of World War II, Jerry served in the US Army from 1942-45 and was stationed in England and France.

Jeremiah had a lengthy career with the US Postal Service, delivering mail in Manchester for 42 years as a member of NALC Branch 44. He retired in 1983.

Jeremiah was a charter member of St Pius X Church and belonged to the Holy Name Society as well as the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood Monastery.

In 1948 he married E. Madeline (Sullivan) Spring. They raised five children and were married for 33 years until her death in 1979. He is survived by his current wife, Lucille (Constant) Sullivan Spring of Manchester, and his five children: Susan Flanagan of York, Maine, Peter Spring of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Mary Spring of Rochester, New Hampshire, Madelyn Gearheart of Durham, New Hampshire and John Spring of Pembroke, New Hampshire. Additionally, he is survived by a sister, Mary Howe of Manchester, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeremiah was pre-deceased by his sister, Dorothy (Spring) Quinn, brothers William P.T. Spring and Arthur F. Spring and a grandson, Matthew Jeremiah Gearheart.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, September 17, 2007 at St Pius X Church, 575 Candia Road, Manchester. Burial followed in St Joseph's Cemetery, Bedford.
