Wife, mother, sister and friend, Joan Catano’s joy in life was being with family, friends and making people laugh.
Joan passed to eternal rest on December 15th 2022 after a battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Manchester on May 14, 1940, she was the daughter of Paul and Rose (Thompson) Lavallee. In her young years she lived in California before moving back to New Hampshire.
She worked for many years at the Raytheon plant in Manchester as a Group Leader Inspector. This is where she met the love of her life. Upon retirement she enjoyed her years at Jacques Flowers, her second family.
Joan was known for her ability to talk to anyone anywhere, her silliness and lighthearted sense of humor. She loved music, all animals, especially her cat Raja and had a fascination for sharks; she loved shopping, going on vacations, cooking, especially for the holidays and her indescribable bond with her granddaughter, Kaylan Rose.
Joan is survived by her husband of 48 years, Armando; her daughters Victoria Rose Catano of Manchester; Nina Maria Malley and her husband Christopher of Milford; her brother Richard Lavallee and wife Luna of Port Ritchie, Florida; extended family members, cousins and friends.
Her family will be forever grateful to the Staff at the Community Hospice House of Merrimack for their care, compassion and respect they showed Joan and the family.
Calling hours will be at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Wednesday, December 21st from 4 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 22nd at 10 am at St. Joseph Cathedral in the Chapel, 145 Lowell St. Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Community Hospice House, 7 Executive Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
Joan, we will always carry your memory in our hearts.
