Joan Claire (Verfaillie) McCormick Girard

Joan Claire(Verfaillie)McCormick Girard, 85, of Concord NH passed away peacefully on March 7, 2017 at The Hospice House in Concord, NH.

Joan was born May 9th 1931 in Lawrence, MA to parents Alfred P. and Yvonne B. Verfaillie. She grew up in Methuen, MA, attending local schools and graduated Valedictorian from Searles High School in 1949. After marrying, she lived in Elmira NY, Andover, MA, Simsbury, CT, East Derry, Londonderry, Franklin, and finally for more than 2 decades, Concord, NH. She has worked for the IRS in Andover, MA and as a Real Estate Broker in NH. She also worked for the State of NH as a Municipal Auditor for the DRA.

She leaves a son, T. Shawn McCormick and his wife Lori of Loudon; a daughter, Michele C. Peloquin and her husband, Pierre of Manchester, NH. She also leaves behind beloved grandchildren Shawn T. McCormick, Malissa McCormick Pellegrino, and Meghan McCormick; beloved great grandchildren Anthony Pellegrino, and Calleigh Pellegrino; nephew Guy Verfaillie; and nieces Lisa Verfaillie Fortin and Kathy Winn Allen. Also, step children Neal Girard and wife Lorell, Lyn Girard Allen and Michelle Girard Langenbaugh. She also leaves behind her beloved second daughter, Deb Martone.

She was a voracious reader who also loved spending summers in Ogunquit, Maine. Her kindness and great conversations will be missed by so many.

A celebration of Joan's life was held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St. Manchester, NH.
