Joan Laporte Grady

Joan (Laporte) Grady, 82, of Manchester passed away peacefully on November 8, 2018 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH.
Born in Arlington, MA on January 15, 1936, she was the daughter of Joseph Octave Sylvio Laporte and Irene Beatrice (Jolicoeur) Laporte. She was predeceased by her infant son, David Grady and brother, Robert Laporte. She was the loving wife of Russell Joseph Grady (predeceased 2014).
A graduate of St. George's High School in 1953, she attended Hesser Business College in Manchester, NH and worked as a secretary to the Branch Manager of The American Fire Insurance Group.
She married Russ on May 2, 1959 and raised three children with him. All of her life she enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking and crafting. Her love of art led her to study at The Manchester Institute of Art (NHIA) and she produced many quality oil paintings and pencil drawings.
Joan is survived by her son, Steven Grady and wife, Teresa, of Hopkinton, NH; two daughters, Caroline Ferris and husband Jeffrey of Kennebunk, ME, and Lisa Baldasaro and husband Nathan of Eliot, ME; grandchildren, Samuel Grady, his wife Raven; Rachel Hampson, her husband Joseph; Melissa and Alexander Ferris, and Bryn Baldasaro.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, November 16, 2018 at St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St., Manchester. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the NH Alzheimer's Assoc., 5 Bedford Farms Dr., Suite 201, Bedford, NH 03110.
