Joan M. Kalil

Joan (Scannell) Kalil, 88, of Bedford, NH passed away Jan 5, 2024, with her family by her side.  Born in Lawrence, MA, Joan was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Margaret (McCann) Scannell.  She was a 1953 graduate of Lawrence High School.  In 1957 she married the love of her life, Alfred.  In 1967 they moved to Manchester, NH, where they raised their boys and started the family business, Derry Wayside Furniture.   After retirement, Joan split her time between Old Orchard Beach, ME and Bedford, NH.

A kind and loving person, Joan found inherent goodness in everyone, sharing her warmth and gentle smile with all.  A wonderful mother and nana, she poured her love into her six grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.  She also never missed an opportunity to spoil her grand dogs.

Joan is survived by her husband of 66 years, Alfred; sons David and his wife Sarah of Stowe VT, and Jeffrey and his wife Vicky of Bedford, NH; daughter in law Vickie of Wilmington, NC; brother Jack and his wife Pat of Merrimack NH and her beautiful grandchildren Dylan and his partner Hillary, Sean and his wife Shannon, Maura and her husband Andrew, Andrew and his wife Kati, and Adam.  She is predeceased by her beloved son Bruce and grandson Matthew.

Per her request, there are no calling hours, and a private family service will be held at a later date.
