Joan M. Keefe

Born in Manchester on September 26, 1933, she was the daughter of John and Stella (Urban) Mendzela. She graduated from St. Casimir Grammar School, St. Joseph High School for Girls and Hesser Business College. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

Mrs. Keefe was a member of the Manchester Women's Club where she had many supportive friends.

She traveled throughout the United States, Poland and Ireland. She was an avid reader and enjoyed word games and playing bridge. She also enjoyed traveling to casinos in Connecticut and time spent at the seacoast.

The family includes her husband of 54 years, Francis E. Keefe of Manchester; five children, Daniel T. Keefe of Oklahoma City, OK, Donna Shannon and her husband, David of Barrington, Marcia Keefe and her husband, Glenn Charette of Alfred, ME, David Keefe and his wife, Donna of Manchester, and Paul Keefe and his wife, Lori of Stockbridge, GA; eight grandchildren, Ryan and Kevin Mesick, Tim and Megan Shannon, Erin and Patrick Keefe, and Emily and Molly Keefe; aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, December 15, 2008 at St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed in Shaw Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
