Joan E. Szelog

She was born in Manchester on May 6, 1916 to Andrew and Antonia (Jajesnica) Skora. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

Mrs. Szelog worked at Evangeline Shoe Company and Modutec Industries, both in Manchester, for many years. She was a member of St. Hedwig Woman's Association and Youngsville Men's Club.

She enjoyed bingo, bowling, crocheting, cooking, traveling and was an avid Red Sox fan. She especially enjoyed spending holidays with her family.

She was married to Edward J. Szelog, who died in 1973.

The family includes her son, Edward S. Szelog and his wife, Anita, of Manchester; three grandchildren, Michael E. Szelog and his wife, Stefanie, Linda A. Levasseur and her husband, Michael, and Gary E. Szelog and his wife, Linda, all of Manchester; seven great grandchildren, Jordan, Bryanna, Savannah, Amelia, Gary, Christien and Zachery; one great great grandchild, Sophia; a sister, Emily Menczywor of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Hedwig Church, corner of Beech and Orange streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Donald Street, Bedford.
