Joan M. Williams

Joan Morel Williams, 90, of Bedford, NH passed away peacefully on September 29, 2022.

Born to Avila and Frances Morel on November 3, 1931, Joan grew up in Hartford, CT, the oldest of 9 children. While working at Travelers Insurance Company she met her husband, P. Adger Williams with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Joan and Adger raised their three children in Glastonbury, CT, and retired to Hilton Head, SC and Westerly, RI.  Joan enjoyed many years as a working mom in the Glastonbury public school system and volunteered at several libraries. There was nothing Joan loved more than spending summers at the beach with her Shelter Harbor friends.  She was an avid tennis player well into her 70’s. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, and challenging jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by brothers Roger and Bruce Morel and sisters Gail Sylvia, Joyce Arsenault, and Cynthia Waitkus; her children Paige Williams (husband Michael Hughes), Gail Williams Weeks (husband John Weeks), and Christopher Williams; and her grandchildren Andrew, Matt, and Tim Weeks and Sarah and Logan Hughes, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Adger and brothers Allan, Gerald, and Francis Morel.
