Joanne M. Corbett, 85, of Bedford, New Hampshire, formerly of Reading, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, surrounded by her devoted children.
Born in Somerville, MA, to Antonio and Edwina (Trundy) Mocogni, Joanne graduated from Somerville High School and went on to serve the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in several administrative roles, including in the Governor’s office.
Joanne shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, William J. Corbett Sr., raising their children in Reading. She found great joy in supporting the Parent Teacher Association at Woburn Street School. She was a strong advocate for her children's education, instilling in them a value for learning that stayed with them for life.
Quick-witted and always informed, she brought insight, humor and energy to every conversation. A lifelong, avid reader, Joanne was well known at every library where she lived. Her passion for books and knowledge never waned.
She loved playing games of all kinds, especially Old Maid and Go Fish with her grandchildren. Her competitive streak, brought out by Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, was only exceeded by the joy and laughter she brought to every gathering.
Her favorite moments were spent surrounded by her family, vacationing in Maine, boating at Lake Ossipee, or sharing meals and memories. Always enthused for outings, she loved shopping and dining in style.
A compassionate animal lover, Joanne supported Guiding Eyes for the Blind and cherished visits from her beloved dog companions, Coconut, Paris, Cairo, Lily, Abby and Gretel.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, William J. Corbett Sr.
Joanne is survived by her children, Christine Brennan and husband Robert Perry of Bedford, NH and William J. Corbett Jr. and wife Catherine Corbett of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Hailey Marie Tonas and husband Kristopher Tonas of Bedford, NH, Darcy Corbett Chillers and husband Charis Chillers of Sparrow Point, MD, William J. Corbett III, Christian Xavier Corbett and Caroline Grace Corbett of Virginia Beach, VA; and great-grandsons, Leonidis Tonas and Roman Chillers.
Joanne leaves behind a legacy of laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love. Her light lives on in the family she adored, the stories she shared and the hearts she touched along the way
