Manchester

Joanne S. Porter, 92, of Manchester, died January 14, 2024, at St Teresa Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Biddeford, Maine on October 23, 1931, she was the daughter of Gerard and Josephine (Letendre) Boissonneault.  She worked for Raytheon Technologies for 5 years before dedicating herself to raising her family for several years.  She returned to the workforce with Audiovox in Newton MA for 16 years.  Joanne later worked as an Environmental Lab Technician for Macom for many years before retiring in 1993.

Joanne loved shopping, lunching and watching her "stories".  With her quick smile and wonderful sense of humor, she easily made friends wherever she went.  She quickly became very popular with the residents and staff of St Teresa's.  Her favorite events were holiday gatherings where she could spend time with her large extended family.  Her deepest love was for her family.  She will be dearly missed by everyone who loved her.  Above all, Joanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Joanne was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, George D. Porter, in 2018.  She was also predeceased by her former husband, Antonio Gallello; both parents and eight siblings.

Surviving family members include two daughters, Linda (Gallello) Byron and husband Steve of Upton, MA and Karen (Gallello) Desmond and husband Robert of Litchfield; two sons, Anthony Gallello of Blackstone, MA and John Gallello and wife Suzanne of Milford; one stepdaughter, Laurie Ferrell of Brookline, MA; twelve grandchildren Dan, Eric, Sean, Mike, Crystal, Melissa, Michelle, John, Samantha, Joseph, Michella and Antonio; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Leroy Boissonneault and wife Terri; and many nieces and nephews.

The family kindly requests that there be no calling hours.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorial donations may be made to Susan G.
