He was born in Chelsea, MA on July 28, 1925 to David and Laura (Cameron) Babcock. He grew up in Malden, MA and graduated from Malden High School in 1942. He lived in Melrose, MA, Deerfield and Manchester for many years.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Babcock worked for New England Telephone Company for 37 years.
He was a Freemason and was a member of the Fidelity Lodge A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite bodies (32nd degree Freemason), and Bektash Temple Shrine. He also was a member of the American Legion and was a Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1617.
IN HIS LIFE: The family includes his wife of 55 years, Kathleen "Kay" (Bean) Babcock of Manchester; a daughter, Doreen A. Duhaime and her husband, Bob, of Manchester; three grandchildren, Christopher Duhaime, Lauren Duhaime and Meredith Duhaime; three sisters, Anna Aiken of Newburyport, MA, Helen Guzowski of Manchester and Bernadette Steinke of Silverdale, WA; and cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, David E. Babcock, and by a sister, Laura Mae Starr.
The funeral was held Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the funeral home. Private burial was at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
