John E. Britton

John E. Britton Jr., 68, of Manchester died May 12, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Manchester on December 30, 1940, the son of John and Rose (Loranger) Britton. He was educated in the local schools.

John retired from the Manchester Fire Department in 1989 after twenty four years of dedicated service. After retirement, he was the director of housekeeping for Mt. Carmel Nursing Home for many years.

He loved quiet times sitting by his pool with his two dogs. He was a strong-willed and good-natured man who loved doing things "his way". Above all else, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

He was a communicant of St. Pius X Church.

Family members include his wife Muriel (Gauthier) Britton of Manchester; one daughter, Kelly Britton of Manchester; one son, John E. Britton III of New Boston; four grandchildren, John E. Britton IV, Sarah Britton, Joseph Britton, and Hannah Britton; two sisters, Gertrude Bournival of Manchester and Doris Remillard of Florida; one brother, David Britton of Pennsylvania; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Gladys Frey, Marie Cote, and Joanne Deschenes.

A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, May 15, 2009 in St. Pius X Church. After cremation, urn burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road.
