John E. Callahan, 84, of Manchester, died May 30,2003, after a long illness. He was born on January 30, 1919, in Boston MA, he was the son of David and Alice (McNamara).
Mr. Callahan grew up in Stoneham MA and had lived in Manchester for the last 58 years.Mr. Callahan was an Army Veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a supervisor at the State of NH Department of Employment Security for 36 years. Mr. Callahan was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, and for 40 years held membership in the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Joseph Cathedral.
Family members include his wife of 58 years Lorraine (LePine) Callahan, of Manchester; 4 children, Susan Lambrou, David Callahan, and Nancy Brown, all of Manchester, Martha Callahan, of Goffstown; 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Wednesday June 4, 2003 in St. Joesph Cathedral 145 Lowell St. Manchester.
Burial was in the NH. Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
