John W. Claiborne III

John W. Claiborne III, 86, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. He was born on March 11, 1939 in Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late John III and Jennie (Cocke) Claiborne.

John graduated from the Washington University in St. Louis and went on to have a storied career in major league baseball in roles ranging from scouting to management for the New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland A’s, and Boston Red Sox. Later, he left baseball management behind to serve as the president of New England Sports Network (NESN) in Boston for 13 years. In addition to his expansive baseball career, John was an avid hiker and animal enthusiast.

John is survived by his two children: John Claiborne IV and his wife Cathy, Keri (Claiborne) Boyle and her husband Andrew; and his five grandchildren: Noah and Christian Claiborne and Riley, Nolan, and Kayleigh Boyle. In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Connie Putney.
